Time... Wait There's More

For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NLT
Time is a funny thing. We either feel like it is going by too fast or too slow. There are few moments in our lives when we think, “Time is going by at the right speed.” Time is something we are never satisfied with. The Bible will tell you there is a time for everything in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Yet even the Bible doesn’t tell you when that time is. Listening to the Holy Ghost is vital for knowing when it is the right time to proceed or step away. One thing I do love about God is that it does not take Him long to turn things around. Give Him time to work and He will do it.
On this day six years ago, I moved to Oklahoma for Rhema Bible Training College. Six years ago doesn’t seem long, but it doesn’t seem short either. I personally feel like I have lived multiple lifetimes within these six years. I started school…graduated the first time…got engaged…got married…graduated the second time…bought a house… interned at my college…lived through an abusive relationship…got hired at my college…got divorced…moved back into an apartment… Most would read that and think there is no way all that happened in six years. It most definitely did. The past six years have held some of my happiest memories and some of my darkest.
Why do I even mention all of this? Looking back on the last six years, it makes me optimistic for the next six. God can do so much in a short amount of time if we surrender to Him. Six years is nothing to God. He can take my life and turn it around in minutes. We think about time in a natural way, when God is eternal and never changing. Don’t let time get the best of you, and always remember there’s more. Don’t limit God by a timeline or days, He is far beyond our human calendar. If something has happened in your life, do not give up. Give God time to turn your situation around. The end is never actually the end. Just wait… there’s more!
Let’s look at some scriptures about God’s timing:
But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
2 Peter 3:8-9
A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.
Proverbs 16:9
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen.
Jeremiah 29:11-12
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6
