Definitions:

to be an extremely pleasant surprise
something revealed or disclosed, especially a striking disclosure, as of something not before realized.
Ephesians 1:17
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. KJV
[I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. AMP
Devotional:
The meaning of revelation has two parts. One part of the word refers to disclosing, uncovering, making known and separating. The second part refers to hiding, concealing and keeping secrets. How can something be uncovered and hidden at the same time?
Revelation comes from the Word of God. When you get saved you do not all of a sudden receive all the revelation God has for you, right? No, you develop a relationship with God. You develop that relationship by getting into the scriptures.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
Think of it this way, top secret information always exists, but you must have the right clearances to see the information. You have to prove you can handle the content before you receive the authorization for top secret material. However, the difference with God is He is willing to give you as much as you are able to handle.
Let’s take a look at Ephesians 1:17 again. The Greek word used here is apokalipsis. Two of it’s root words are apokaluptō and kruptō. Apokaluptō means to uncover, God is uncovering wisdom and insight for us. Kruptō means to keep secrets, God keeps them hidden away until we are willing to seek His wisdom and insights by getting into the scriptures.
A second thought about revelation is perhaps the ‘keep secret’ part is for us. God gives us revelation sometimes for us, and only us. Or He gives us revelation to be used for a certain time or season. Like Joseph learned in Genesis 37 when he told his family his dreams, not every revelation God gives you is to be shared with others. Think about a friendship. There are things your friend tells you that are meant to be for your ears only. It is kind of the same with the revelation God gives us!
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5
Ask away! Seek God! Get into the Word and He will reveal, disclose, uncover many “secrets” that will help you be successful and prosperous in life. Get your revelation!
Confessions:
I have the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.
I have spiritual wisdom and insight so that I might grow in my knowledge of God.
I have a spirit of wisdom and revelation that gives me a deep and personal and intimate insight into the true knowledge of Him.
