Make Every Moment Count

Time is a funny thing; it is multipurpose and has many uses. Time can be used personally, used to help others, or not used at all. Once you use this moment right now you can never get it back. It is now gone forever.
Ecclesiates 3:1 reads: “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.”
Time will never change. We all have the same amount each day and none of us know how long we will be here on earth. For about a year now I have been challenged with what things I am spending my time on. I am learning to live in the moment and enjoy the ride of life even when things do not go as planned; trusting that God makes everything beautiful in its own timing (Ecc 3:11).
Recently I have heard several people say, “What you spend most of your time on is what you value most in life.” This made me start thinking about my day-to-day life and how I spend my time. I started to question myself throughout my week. What am I doing today? What is the most important thing for me to accomplish today or this week? Am I using my time to become a better person or am I just going about my life trying to get to the next day? Throughout this process I found that I indeed do have times where I am productive and improving myself as a person. On the other hand, I also discovered that there have been many times that I just wasted an entire day on nothing. Now, I am not saying that you cannot have time where you relax and do nothing because there are times in life when this becomes very necessary. But what I found when examining myself is that I was plain wasting too much time on things that will never matter in life.
Ephesians 5:16b-17 in the Passion Translation says, “Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for His purposes. And do not live foolishly for then you will have discernment to fully understand God’s will.”
Take some time to consider what you are doing throughout your day with your time. Remember that everything you do or say will somehow impact your life or someone else's life. This impact will take place instantly or could just be a simple thought that will affect the way you see or treat them later. We have the power daily to bless others by what we do with our time. Are you using your time in a way that will improve others' lives and improve yourself as a person, or are you simply wasting your day on things that will never help you or others in life? Let us grow together, live in the moment, and allow God to change our lives and world by using the time we have right now to make the most of every opportunity.
