Looking Forward

The two year anniversary of this devotional website, something I never thought was possible, has me thinking about what else I doubt is possible when it actually is. The possibilities are endless once you take the doubt out of situations or yourself. The trick is turning that backwards doubt into forward action. What is holding you back? I ask myself this question in regards to 320 Letters, holding nothing back, believing anything is possible.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Philippians 3:13 NLT
The Greek word used for “looking forward” in this verse means to stretch oneself forward, to reach forth. This is the perfect word for our two year anniversary! To move forward we can’t look to the past, we need to learn from the past and look forward. Learn, don’t look!
Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.
Proverbs 4:25 ESV
Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Luke 9:62 ESV
There are many testimonies in the Bible that speak about looking back. Lot’s wife is the first one that comes to mind (Genesis 19).
But Lot’s wife looked back as she was following behind him, and she turned into a pillar of salt.
Genesis 19:26 NLT
In these scriptures, the Bible speaks to looking forward and leaving the past behind you. I believe this is because God always wants us focused on the present/future. He wants us in faith for the here and now. We can’t have faith in the past. So, I ask you this…
What are you believing in?
What do you think is impossible?
Where can you remove doubt?
What are you stretching for?
What are you looking forward to?
