Walking Into Your Inheritance

When I was young, maybe 6th grade, I remember watching Princess Diaries 2. Princess Mia and her cat are moving to the country of Genovia into a giant castle where she will fall in love and become a Queen.
But you know what my favorite part of the movie is?
It’s when Mia sees her beautiful bedroom with her two maids waiting at her beck and call. Her grandma has one more big surprise… we watch Mia turn into the next room where she sees her fully stocked closet. Full of matching outfits, shoes, jewelry, sunglasses, and so much more. Every time I watched that scene when I was little, I always envied her in that closet. I wanted to come home one day with a closet as big as my room filled with every item of clothing I could ever need or want.
Now, my room would have more leggings and Birkenstocks than hers did… but you get the point!
When spending time with God, I relive this movie scene in my head often. But instead of clothes and shoes, I am picturing all the promises God has given me that I inherited when I said I believe Jesus died for me. So, what promises have we inherited?
We have inherited an eternity in Heaven with God!
“But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— 1 Corinthians 2:9
God has prepared a place for us, Heaven, so that we have eternal life with Him! We inherited that right when we said “YES” to Jesus.
Before we get to Heaven, there are things that we have the ability to have here on this earth. Here are a few things that we have inherited that I am so thankful for:
1) Healing – Isaiah 53:5
2) Forgiveness – 1 John 1:9
3) The Holy Spirit - Romans 5:5
4) Freedom from Fear – 2 Timothy 1:7
5) Strength – Psalm 28:7
Just like Princess Mia was able to walk into her closet and receive her inheritance, we can also walk into our inheritance with God.
I pray that today there is a hope that springs up in your heart. A hope that sparks a joy that God is greater than any situation you’re going through. I pray that you can rest in Him knowing that when you said yes to Jesus, you also said yes to inheriting all the promises God gave us. Tap into what God says He is and what He has said He can do. He will never fail you.
