Scripture: Ephesians 3:19
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.KJV
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. NLT
… and [that you may come] to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself]. Devotional:
The word “fullness” leaves nothing to our imaginations. The very word means: completely filled, the utmost capacity. In Ephesians 3:19 we are speaking about the “fullness of God” or “fullness of life and power”. Or my personal favorite “richest experience of God’s presence”!
This word gives us an image of a glass so full of liquid that if even grazed will overflow. God’s fullness is never going to be just for you. He gives so that we give. He fills us with His fullness so that we can ‘overflow’ onto others. Are you so full of God that if barely touched, would you overflow with His life and power? Take a moment and reflect on that.
In Ephesians, Paul uses the Greek word pleroma. The word pleroma reflects a state of being fed to excess, the condition of being filled up or overcrowded. The root word for pleroma is the Greek word pletho, there is a reference to influence and supply. His fullness should influence your life and others. Paul is intentional in his word choice, to use a word that not only reflects filling yourself up but operating in excess so you can fill up others.
Paul’s writings make me realize that we as Christians are not walking in the fullness of God unless we are sharing and overflowing onto others the love of God. To walk in the fullness of God is to share the love of Jesus with others. I want to make it clear that we are not talking about neglecting ourselves, because we must be full ourselves to overflow. Rather, living from a place where we are walking in the fullness of God so even if barely touched, we have something to give to the lost and hurting. Are you so full of God that, if barely touched, you would overflow with His life and power? One of the best ways to fill up is to read the word of God. I have included a list of additional scriptures and confessions below. Take the time and fill your cup up today.
Confession:
I am made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
I am filled with all the fullness of God.
I am filled up [throughout my being] to all the fullness of God [so that I may have the richest experience of God’s presence in my life, completely filled and flooded with God Himself].
